Learning mentors required for SEMH SEN school in Chatham.

Teaching support are excited to be working with an SEMH behavioural school in Chatham who are looking to recruit several Learning Support Mentors to start throughout June into July for the new academic year.

The school supports students aged 11-16 with SEMH. The environment can be very challenging in terms of behaviour however the senior leadership team look to promote staff members that work hard and make a lasting positive impact on their student’s. There are huge opportunities to progress.

The positions will start on a temporary basis with the option of going permanent after a number of weeks working with the academy through Teaching Support.

It is essential that you have some of the below experience:

Experience of supporting children/young adults with challenging behaviour

A keen understanding of being able to create bonds with students that have had challenging backgrounds and to be able to quickly build trust

Worked within a Pupil Referral within the past 24 months

Experience supporting students within SEN school’s or candidates with a mental health support/young offender’s background would be strong candidates

Being of a firm nature when necessary

Any experience of restraint training is highly advantageous but not necessary

Solid knowledge and experience supporting students with EBD in 1:1 or group settings is also advantageous


The rate of pay is £70+ per day for the right candidates. Temp to perm options after 12 academic weeks.
